**You will do this by**:

- Developing strategic directions under the Queensland Housing Strategy, through effective issue identification, consultation, policy development and problem solving.
- Providing high level strategic policy advice on complex policy issues relating to development and delivery of the Queensland Housing Strategy.
- Planning, designing and managing policy development and contributing to the department's knowledge base.
- Providing leadership to a small team undertaking the development of policy responses to complex and systemic issues in the delivery of Housing and Homelessness Services across Queensland.
- Preparing and assisting in the preparation of high quality, complex written reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, speeches, publication and correspondence in accordance with deadlines.
- Building and maintaining strategic relationships with key external stakeholders including Commonwealth, State and local government agencies, industry and community organisations to ensure client needs are considered.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and with other levels of government, industry and non-government organisations to achieve policy outcomes and deliver on Government priorities and commitments.
- Supporting and helping maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day to day operations.

**Requisite skills and knowledge**:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications are highly desirable or demonstrated equivalent in depth experience/knowledge relevant to policy work.
- High level oral and written communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- High level conceptual and analytical skills, and ability to interpret complex information rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to work effectively and lead a small team, together with the capacity to work independently and with mínimal supervision.
