About the Position
The Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant is responsible for delivery of the leisure and lifestyle program designed to promote and enable physical, intellectual, emotional, cultural and social wellbeing and independence of our residents.
The Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant will assist with the facilitation and implementation of the leisure and lifestyle programs for our residents. This role will coordinate and deliver a broad range of activities and programs for residents.
The Leisure & Lifestyle Assistant will also be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Actively participate in the development of the lifestyle program on a monthly basis.
- Ensure individual resident choice, decision making and participation when implementing leisure and lifestyle programs for residents.
- Deliver leisure and lifestyle activities which are designed to enhance the Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Cultural and Social wellbeing of individuals.
- Ensure a planned and coordinated approach to the delivery of a broad range of programs to support residents to participate in activities that meet their individual interests and needs.
- Contribute to the documentation of comprehensive and accurate Lifestyle Assessments and Care Plans for all residents to enable the program to reflect relevant resident needs.
- Contribute to the evaluation of outcomes and effectiveness of a range of Leisure and Lifestyle programs on a regular basis.
- Monitor, review and contribute to quality in care and be an advocate of excellence in resident care and services.
- Ensure that all leisure and lifestyle assessments and care plans are reviewed as per Company policy and care plans are adjusted to meet the changed needs of residents.
- Promote a positive culture of good customer service and quality care.
What we are looking for
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
- Proven competency in delivering recreational activities, music and craft therapy in an aged care environment.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills and ability to foster effective relationships with staff, residents and resident representatives and external service providers.
- Computer literacy including the ability to learn to use Aged Care software.
- A commitment to providing a caring and empathetic service to our residents while respecting their privacy, choices and cultural preferences.
- A commitment to the principles of Workplace Health & Safety and ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.
- Commitment to ensuring resident needs are always met by being punctual and reliable for all rostered shifts.
- Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards and legislative requirements.
- Experience in a similar role in an Aged Care Facility or in-home care.
