**About the Employer**
We are a thriving, boutique Orthotics facility located in Melbourne.
We specialise in the orthotic management of neuromuscular conditions, foot, ankle and knee conditions and fractures.
**Position Purpose**
The Orthotist, grade 1, is responsible for providing clinical services to clients in order to meet each client’s identified goals. Responsibilities at this level are carried out primarily under supervision of a senior clinician.
This is a full-time position.
**Direct Reports**
This position has no staffing responsibilities.
**Responsibilities**
- Communicating effectively with clinical team, admin team, other health care providers and clients to deliver appropriate client care within scope of responsibility level;
- Developing and managing a client plan by collecting all relevant information and appraising the validity and importance of information to achieve the required goals and outcome;
- Casting, selecting, evaluating, modifying and fitting orthoses where required to achieve the required goals and outcomes;
- Reviewing the client at appropriate internals to evaluate fit, function, quality and safety of the orthosis;
- Making all decisions as needed to ensure appropriate care of the clients. Working in conjunction with the medical specialist within the hospital environment;
- Communicating effectively with the technical team to assist with the manufacture of orthoses;
- Adhering to workplace safety requirements and identifying and minimising potential risks wherever possible;
- Demonstrating a systematic approach to development, analysis, problem solving and decision making to ensure improvement of skills and independence over time;
- Undertaking and contributing to professional development by demonstrating an enquiring approach to practice;
- Maintaining accurate records of all client attendance, occasion and type of services and documenting all aspects of client care;
- Understanding and conforming to funding arrangements, required administration and reporting requirements;
- Maintaining designated equipment, work area and storage areas, ensuring they are clean and tidy;
- Participating in the process of ordering stock items;
- Participating in key annual trade shows and conventions as required;’
- Ensuring all clinical activity fulfils or exceeds the competency standards of the profession and Orthotics Plus Australia Pty Ltd
- Ensuring that all behaviour is in line with the company’s values and other relevant policies;
- Other tasks as directed within scope of role and responsibility level.
**Qualifications/Experience**:
- Appropriate Degree in Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent;
- Eligibility for membership to Australian Orthotic & Prosthetic Association
- Understanding of the health service and orthotic industry;
- Understanding of orthotic devices and products
- High level of client focus
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
- Strong decision making skills
- High ability to show initiative and be proactive;
- 2 years’ relevant experience
**Travel Requirements**
Travel to external locations such as hospitals, nursing homes and patient dwellings will be required to fulfill this position.
**Remuneration**
Salary in the range $60,000 to $70,000 plus superannuation per annum
