**The opportunity**
Right now, we have multiple Permanent Full Time opportunities for a Media Manager to join our Communications - Media branch based at Elizabeth Street Office. TfNSW offers flexible working arrangements with a balance of office and work from home options.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide strategic advice to business partners, to share important information to NSW transport customers and to positively contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the reputation of Transport for NSW. The Media Manager will provide leadership, support and advice to a team of Media Officers and Senior Media Officers.
**What you will be involved in**:
- Oversee the preparation of media statements whilst ensuring appropriate approval prior to release and under direction, act as organisational spokesperson as required.
- Support the Director in providing strategic media advice by monitoring state-wide media, preparing material for public engagements and responding to media issues and inquiries out of hours (including early morning radio), as required and during major media and critical issues.
- Manage the media and social media team ensuring the requirements of a 24/7 roster are accounted for.
- Coordinate high level media event management in preparation for public appearances of the Executive Team, Minister and Secretary and write material for public speaking by senior management, to ensure event objectives are achieved.
- Take responsibility for effective and collaborative relationship building with the Ministers’ offices, media representatives, managers and other media and communications staff across the Transport Cluster.
**About You**
- Demonstrated team leadership experience in media relations in a complex environment.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Media or related discipline.
- Experience identifying story opportunities and translating opportunities into positive coverage in traditional and digital news media.
- Sound judgement in managing responses to high profile, contentious issues engaging with news media and stakeholder groups.
- Understanding of social media, its monitoring and its use.
- Knowledge and understanding of government and parliamentary processes.

The salary for this position is TfNSW Grade 9 ($142,178 - $159,238) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
