The Environmental Programs and Engagement Officer is an exciting and essential position in a dynamic Environment Team.

Working in close collaboration with the team and community groups, this position is responsible for raising awareness, inspiring behaviour change, and facilitating community involvement in the protection and enhancement of the Shire’s natural assets, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable living.

A key focus of the role is the development and delivery of an innovative and engaging environment education program for internal departments, external stakeholders and the wider community.

Importantly, this role supports the implementation of the community engagement components of Council’s Environment Strategy, Bushland Environmental Management Plans, Roadside Conservation Management Plan, Biodiversity Strategy and Climate Emergency Response Plan.

Applicants with qualifications and experience in Communications, Education, Event Management, Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management are encouraged to apply.

NB: To deliver a program of environment events for the local community, there will be a requirement to work outside normal business hours from time to time.
