About Southport Special School
Southport Special School is a Queensland Department of Education and Training school campus where quality teaching supports the learning of all of our students. Located on the sunny Gold Coast and not far from the M1, our school caters for the learning of students from Prep to Year 12.
At Southport Special School, we value high levels of collaboration and shared decision making. We aim to support every student to be their very best. We do this through the use of evidence-based research to inform teaching and learning programs and rigorous use of student learning data to inform the next steps for teaching and learning. Our shared ways of working include the pedagogical approaches of explicit Teaching, the Science of Reading and Positive Behaviour for Learning.
About the Role
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Be futures oriented and strategic;
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students with disability;
- Ability to drive the school's explicit improvement agenda;
- Set high standards for student and staff performance;
- Engage in data analysis to support teachers in behavioural support processes;
- Effectively lead complex case management processes in collaboration with families, therapists and external providers;
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
