**What is tax depreciation for investment properties?**
When a property is built or renovated, over time, its structure and the assets contained within it wear out - they depreciate in value. The Australian Tax Office (ATO) allows owners of rental properties to claim this depreciation as a tax deduction. This is where BMT comes in - we provide industry-leading depreciation reports for our investors to use at tax time.
**About the role**
BMT is looking to welcome a new member to our close-knit team of Property Inspectors. Based in the Gold Coast, this position is responsible for conducting high-quality site inspections on residential and commercial investment properties. Your new role will see you taking photographs and electronically recording property data including building measurements and asset quantities. This information is required to prepare comprehensive tax depreciation reports for our clients.
This unique position will see you traveling around the local and surrounding areas with the occasional need to travel regionally. Meeting new people ranging from tenants, building managers, property managers, accountants, and major property developers. So, if you thrive in an environment that requires you to build relationships with various stakeholders and be on the road then this may be the role for you
**About you**
To be considered for this position, you will:
- Hold a valid unrestricted driver's license
- Have exceptional time management
- Have a high level of attention to detail
- Have excellent computer skills
- Be self-motivated, organised, and able to work autonomously
- Be comfortable with regular travel and overnight stays
