We are on the lookout for a compassionate and driven Aboriginal Support Coordinator to join our Way Back Service and provide support on the **Far North Coast Tweed Heads, Lismore, Grafton** (can be based in any of the 3 locations) on a **Full-time basis**.
Reporting to the **Team Leader**, the position will be instrumental in providing individualised, recovery-focussed and practical support to our customers, in the first 3 months following a suicide attempt.
The position will be based in any of the 3 towns **( Tweed Heads / Lismore / Grafton) or within that area.**
Working days and hours are from **Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM**.
**The day to day**
Encouraging engagement in the Way Back Model service, with a focus on groups known to be at higher risk of suicide;
Providing support in the first 3 months following a suicide attempt to help an individual to stay safe and connect with essential services;
Providing face to face, telephone and online support
Connecting customers to e-resources and referrals to mainstream services
Reducing burden on supporting networks, including family and carers
Working collaboratively with existing services; and
Complementing current service provision by supporting attendance and reducing burden for follow-up care and support.
**What you need to have**
Passion, Respect & Integrity
Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health or Social Services related fields
National Criminal History Check (Police Check) and Working with Children Check
Valid Australian Drivers C class licence, with ability to drive vehicles in licence class, including large cars & vans.
Must be fit to undertake the physical requirements of customer support, including the capacity to lift 10 kilograms unassisted
Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
Ability and confidence to communicate and work with other staff outside of the immediate team
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities according to agreed timeframes and quality standards
Preparedness to travel to between Tweed Head and surrounding areas
