The Department of Education is committed to developing and implementing a statewide continuum of educational delivery to ensure that students with chronic health or complex mental health conditions receive specialised and appropriate educational support at all stages of their illness. As part of this commitment, the department delivers several education programs within hospitals and health sites across Queensland, connected through a statewide network of hospital educators and professionally supported by Queensland Children's Hospital School. This opportunity is for an experienced teacher who enjoys the rewards of making positive impacts on the lives of young people. Teachers in hospital education programs provide targeted learning so that students can continue to flourish in their educational progress as well as have a seamless transition back to their base schools. Teachers work with students, families, medical teams and base schools to ensure that students' individual needs are identified and education programs reflect these needs. In Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH), there are three education programs: - Paediatric program located in the children's ward at SCUH - Adolescent Day Program located in a community setting - Adolescent mental health acute ward located in the Rosella ward at SCUH This vacancy is to work primarily with secondary students in the adolescent mental health acute ward, with the potential to work across all education programs and at times support students with our Virtual Hospital Education Program (VHEP). In this setting, teachers are required to work closely with health practitioners and the ability to work collaboratively and as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential. Further curriculum, teaching and learning support is provided through Queensland Children's Hospital School and the statewide network of hospital education programs. The Department of Education and Queensland Children's Hospital School have developed five drivers that direct the development and implementation of a best-practice education model to support students with complex mental health or chronic health conditions at all stages of their illness: - Students have access to learning at all stages of their illness - Staff deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs - Students experience continuity of learning across programs - Students and staff feel a sense of belonging to their school communities - Staff engage in multidisciplinary collaboration. **How to apply**: - Enter your personal details - Attach your current CV including contact details of two professional referees (one of whom is your current supervisor) and a maximum 2 page written response outlining your suitability for the role under "How You Will Be Assessed"
