The role The Principal Policy Officer role will undertake specific project work related to the development and implementation of the broad strategic and policy framework for mental health and alcohol and other drugs under Better Care Together: a plan for Queensland's state-funded mental health alcohol and other drug services to 2027 (Better Care Together). In this role you will lead and manage specified projects in line with Queensland Health project management methodologies to ensure the delivery of timely and quality project outcomes. In addition, provide advice and guidance to stakeholders and senior management on specific issues as they relate to and are consistent with relevant national and State policy directions.
**The successful personThe successful person will demonstrate**: - High level and demonstrated policy, planning and project management skills and the demonstrated ability to formulate and communicate strategic advice relevant to mental health alcohol and other drugs issues. Strong understanding or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the mental health, alcohol and other drugs treatment service system including the complex interrelationships within the government, non-government and private sectors. - Ability to manage system-wide and/or state-wide projects that are time-critical and achieve expected deliverables across mental health, alcohol and other drugs strategy and planning. High level strategic, conceptual and analytical skills and capacity to develop reports, discussion papers and submissions relevant to a range of social and health priority areas.

The Mental Health Alcohol and other Drugs Strategy and Planning Branch supports and guides the delivery of contemporary, high quality mental health, alcohol and other drugs services in the State-funded system through the development and implementation of state-wide planning, service frameworks and by utilising systems redesign methodologies to bring about service level change and improvement.
