Talent has been asked to assist the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in finding their next Team Leader within the High Performance Computing environment.

**Your duties will include**:

- Manage and lead the High Performance Computing team, including; being responsible for strategic and operational plans for the service, allocating and managing resources, and the training, career development, and skills adoption in line with CSIRO strategy and technology changes.
- Choose appropriate management strategies and communication styles to maintain high levels of motivation and productivity, giving feedback for development purposes and providing support for improvement.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed team, to carry out tasks autonomously in support of IMT services to reach objectives.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with all staff, clients and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of CSIRO's reputation.
- Manage the hardware and software used for running a high performance computing environment inclusive of Life Cycle Refresh, maintenance, and license renewals.
- Automation of OS and app deployment.

**Selection Criteria**
- Management skills with experience leading a geographically distributed team.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed research team, and carry out tasks autonomously in support of scientific research.
- Demonstrated ability & willingness to contribute novel ideas and approaches in support of scientific research.

**Desirable**
- Good understanding of container technologies and the supporting technologies and how these can be leveraged in a HPC environment.
- Experience of HPC system administration in a scientific environment.
- Experience with developing and documenting infrastructure plans, systems designs and service roadmaps for 3-5 year planning.
- Demonstrated experience with one or more HPC technologies in a large research organization supporting research workloads.

**To be eligible for this position you must be willing and able to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.
