Tax - team leader
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Tax - Team leader, within the Finance & Budget Management Branch.
The tax team ensure compliance with the AFP's taxation obligations and provide a suitable level of support for the AFP and its members deployed to international missions.
As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below. Furthermore, as a Team Leader in the AFP, you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
What will you do?
The AFP is seeking the services of a talented and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Team Leader within its Tax Team. The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic technical team responsible for the delivery of taxation services for the AFP. Working cooperatively, and under limited direction, the Team Leader will be responsible for:
the preparation of written advice and briefings on strategic and operational tax matters;
contributing to the management and completion of tax compliance matters;
the ongoing development of processes and procedures for the Tax Team;
the provision of advice and guidance in the development and enhancement of systems impacting the recording and reporting of taxation information;
developing and maintaining internal and external working relationships;
representing the Tax Team and AFP in various forums;
supervision and ongoing development of team members.
Key taxation areas administered by the Tax Team are Fringe Benefits Tax, Goods and Services Tax as well as international tax issues relating to deployed and travelling members.
Qualifications such as a bachelor degree in commerce, law or accountancy and/or current accreditation with CA/CPA are highly desirable.
Essential requirements
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
Tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in the field.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
