**The Social Worker
- Violence Abuse and Neglect (VAN) is responsible for providing strength based, trauma informed and culturally sensitive interventions and will be afforded the opportunity to develop practice across all clinical streams.**

Based in either the Child Protection Counselling Service (CPCS) or the Sexual Assault Service (SAS), the social worker will participate in a development pathway over their first two years that will provide a strong foundation for the work across the specialty areas of child protection, sexual assault and domestic violence.
VAN services have a primary role of establishing safety and stabilisation for children, young people, individuals and families who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect, and work towards ongoing healing and recovery, with a focus on increasing capacity and wellbeing. Working from a strong evidence base, they facilitate recovery and promote integrated and trauma informed care that is holistic and seamless.
The position includes access to training and supervision and the opportunity to build strong professional networks. It is anticipated that career progression opportunities into more senior clinical roles will follow successful completion of the VAN development pathway.
Our teams are supported to deliver evidence based and culturally safe interventions that operationalise the NSW Health Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect (PARVAN) Framework, Service Standards, Guidelines and relevant Policy and Procedures.

**About You**
- You have a degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers and alignment with relevant professional practice standards.
- You have understanding and experience in undertaking psychosocial assessment in the area of violence, abuse and neglect.
- You have sound knowledge of the impact of trauma and the broader systemic issues that impact people who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect.
- You are self-motivated and skilled in time management, prioritising competing commitments, managing and responding to stressful situations.

We have a primary role of establishing stabilisation and safety for children, young people, individuals and families and work across the health system to support healing and recovery, with a focus on increasing capacity and wellbeing. The position is part of a small CCLHD team that is also part of a developing network of services delivered by LHD’s in New South Wales and includes a specific focus on improving outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities.
