Reporting to the Head of Reinsurance, Insurance Risk and Agency, you will be embedded within the Insurance business. The **Risk & Assurance Manager** role will be responsible for leading the development and embedment of strong risk management and operational governance throughout all functions across the Guild Insurance business in line with the Guild Group Risk Management Framework and Compliance Plan. You’ll be working directly with key stakeholders and executives across the insurance business and the Group Risk, Audit & Compliance team (RAC - second and third line of defence). This role plays an integral part in planning and executing Risk and Control Assurance activities to give the Guild Insurance Leadership Team visibility on the effectiveness of its control environment. This includes ensuring that GIL complies with all its contractual, legal, regulatory and license conditions.

This is a new and exciting role which given is more than your usual risk role. You’ll be charged with running a new function that influences the culture and attitude to risk, embedding a ‘no surprises’ philosophy and framework that delivers greater ownership for risk and compliance. The core accountabilities of this role as follows (a full position description is available upon request).
- Ensures material risks are identified and managed effectively across the insurance business
- Ensure compliance obligations and implications for new initiatives, products or regulatory changes are understood and processes and controls are developed to ensure compliance
- uplift risk maturity across the insurance business
- Understand the impacts of changes in the legislative and regulatory landscape and operationalising legislative/regulatory changes as required
- Establish and maintain oversight of effective internal controls to ensure ongoing mitigation of key risks and compliance with all relevant legislation regulations and contractual obligations, including preparing reports and presenting to the executive team

**About you**

You won’t be surprised that we are seeking someone that comes with considerable experience in a mid to senior role in compliance assurance or audit. Ideally your experience will come from the general insurance industry. You have sound knowledge of risk frameworks, maybe even involved in the design of a framework, and knowledge of APRA regulations, particularly in the areas of risk, compliance and/or corporate governance. You are curious, astute, determined, outcomes focussed and flexible but structured in your way of working. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, will be paramount to the success of this role as you partner with our internal stakeholders including leaders and executive teams.
