**The Opportunity**
The Building Services Unit is seeking two qualified, experienced, and highly motivated Building Inspectors to join our dynamic and high-performing team. This is a key role supporting the Building Unit’s regulatory, administrative, and enforcement functions. You will play a vital part in ensuring Council meets its statutory obligations under the _Building Act 1993_, with a strong focus on promoting public safety and maintaining compliance within the built environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Deliver high-quality technical and customer service support to align with the objectives of the Building Services Unit.
- Support the Municipal Building Surveyor (MBS) and Team Leader, Building Services, in fulfilling Council’s statutory and regulatory obligations under the _Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018_, Local Laws and other relevant legislation and relevant Australian Standards including risk management responsibilities.
- Conduct inspections and compliance assessments, including investigations into illegal and unsafe buildings, Pool compliance and initiate enforcement actions where appropriate. Report findings to the MBS and Team Leader Building Services.
- Deliver accurate, timely, and practical regulatory advice to residents, property owners, and stakeholders on building and construction related matters.
- Prepare formal documentation and reports, including Building Notices, Building Orders, and other statutory directions as required.
- Contribute to the review and development of policies and procedures, and actively participate in ongoing professional development, including relevant training, seminars, and workshops.
- Represent Council during emergency callouts and participate in the after-hours emergency response roster as required.

**About you**
**_ To be successful in this role you will have the following:_**
- Current registration with the Victorian Building Authority as a Building Inspector (Limited or Unlimited) or Building Surveyor (Limited).
- Comprehensive knowledge of the _Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018,_ National Construction Code (NCC), relevant Australian Standards and the Victorian Building Authority Code of Conduct for Building Surveyors.
- Relevant experience in the building surveying industry and within Local Government, with a strong focus on building surveying, inspections, regulatory compliance and customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A current valid driver’s licence is essential.
