**About the Role**:
The Ranger, Nilpena Ediacara National Park role presents an incredible new opportunity in South Australia’s National Parks and Wildlife Service. Imagine watching the sun set daily on the magnificent northern Flinders Ranges, truly one of the jewels in the crown of the parks service and the centrepiece of the South Australian Government’s current bid for world heritage recognition for the region. The Ranger will work under the Ranger in Charge, as a key member of the Flinders and Outback Region to manage the day to day operations of the park, with core responsibilities including presentation and maintenance of a small interpretive centre, managing enquiries and bookings and the delivery of tours twice weekly for park visitors, the protection and surveillance of globally significant Ediacaran fossil deposits, overseeing onsite contractors and the management of wide ranging conservation and cultural heritage values across the 65,000 hectare park. The Ranger also builds meaningful relationships with key partners, including park neighbours, palaeontologists, researchers, conservation partners and Aboriginal communities.

**Special Conditions**:

- Will be required to participate in emergency operations including bushfire operations, search and rescue and marine mammal strandings. This may require at times, some out of hours work including the participation in an “on-call” roster.
- Will be required to undertake a medical and fitness assessment for a Fire Fighting Role Classification as defined in the DEW Fire Management Policy and Procedures.
- Will be required to work some weekends, public holidays and days of significant fire danger for which a penalty rate will be applied.
- May be required to work from any location within the region or any region or management unit within the state.
- Will be required to wear a uniform in accordance with DEW policy.
- A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential. Will need or ability to get an MR and Driver Accreditation.
- Intra and inter-state travel is required, including extended periods of time away from home and travel in light aircraft.
- A current Provide First Aid Certificate is desirable (HLTAID001; HLTAID002 and HLTAID003).

OPS3 $67,589 min - $72,033 max p.a.

- Shows Understanding /Experience in the Tourism Industry and managing tourism related programs and procedures.
- Experience in site interpretation and sound knowledge of general/local Flora Fauna, Geological processes.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships.
- Maintains a current and sound knowledge of contemporary approaches to Project Management, Risk Management, Nature Conservation, Land Management and Visitor Management.
- Knowledge of the _National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972 _and _Regulations, Wilderness Protection Act 1992_ and _Marine Parks Act 2007_.
- A tertiary qualification in natural resource management, tourism or other relevant field is desirable.
- MR Licence with driver accreditation or ability to gain one.
