Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for over 70 years. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the 5,500-megawatt Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and has recently contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to more than 1.1 million retail customers through Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
Our values of Safety, Teamwork, Ownership, Agility, Decency, and Courage are ingrained in our history. From the construction of the Snowy Mountains Scheme to the integrated retail and generation organisation we are today, our values define who we are. Every day the values come to life through our behaviour, our choices, our decisions, and our interactions with each other and our customers.
An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and self-driven Operations Coordinator to join the Generation Operations team. Opportunity exists to be able to operate out of both the Cooma and Jindabyne control rooms.
In this role you will be operating and controlling Snowy Hydro's diverse generation and infrastructure assets, via our SCADA system, to meet electricity market and water release obligations. You will develop outage schedules to ensure business requirements can be met while optimising the generating fleet's efficiency, capacity, and capability.
In addition, as an Operations Coordinator you will be responsible for:
Developing and monitoring daily and weekly operational projections for implementation based on analysis of fleet performance, constraints, and other inputs such as weather;
Developing short to medium term scenario capability models
Working closely with key stakeholders to ensure that proposed outages enable market, hydraulic and water release obligation to be met while ensuring asset integrity requirements are achieved;
Coordinating response to critical operational/system events.
**To be successful in this role, you will need**:
Excellent communication and literacy skills with an emphasis on relationship building and resolution management;
Demonstrated ability to accurately assess priorities, make and communicate sound business decisions in a constantly changing environment;
Ability to work effectively as part of a self-managed team
A trade, technical, commerce, scientific, or engineering qualification is beneficial, not essential;
Understanding of mathematical optimisation and statistical techniques;
While operational experience will be well regarded, this role is best suited for a person with an eagerness to learn and be a positive addition to our successful team.
