**Primary Position Purpose**

To ensure all Basic Seed and Experimental Hybrid Seed increases are grown to their full potential by carrying out all field machinery and equipment operations, including but not limited to planting, spraying, cultivating and harvesting. This position is within the Field Services Group but the primary focus is to support the Parent Seed Program. It is an operational position and involves all aspects of in-field machinery related seed production activities.

**Key Accountabilities**

**Field Operation Responsibilities**
- Undertake day to day field operations including planting, spraying, cultivation, trickle tape laying and harvesting.
- Undertake all agronomic farming practices in a respectful manner on leased and owned farming land.
- Maintain the highest possible Parent Seed Quality and purity; the principal function of the Parent Seed group.
- Contribute to the growing of crops under a wide range of different environmental conditions, often in untraditional and challenging areas.
- Take ownership of field work activities and in-field equipment setup and operation.
- Consult with Field Operations management and Parent Seed stakeholders on timeliness of field operations and the setup of plant and equipment used to plant, spray, cultivate, harvest and transport Parent Seed.

**Machinery and Plant Equipment Maintenance Responsibilities**
- Regular and consistent calibration and set up of plant and equipment; including calibrating equipment such as planters and spraying equipment, and ensuring all equipment is prepared, cleaned and set up precisely in order to maximise the resulting purity and yields.
- Ensure all machinery is maintained and repaired when necessary, in order to efficiently respond to field operational requirements.
- Proficiently operate a wide range of precision farming machinery and equipment.
- Assist the Field Services Team in the coordination, cooperation, management and planning of all machinery operations especially at times of high demand across different Parent Seed and Research Breeding programs.
- Assist management with asset replacement and purchase.
- Provide updates on all plant and equipment, breakdowns, repairs and maintenance and general asset management.
- Take ownership of all repair and maintenance programs and effective management of plant and equipment.

**General and Administrative Responsibilities**
- Display effective time management and prioritisation skills, particularly during peak work periods.
- Regular consultation with wider team and stakeholders on the organisation and movement of plant and equipment.
- Regular consultation with wider team and stakeholders on effective work programming and scheduling.
- Assist management with agronomic decisions and program planning.

**Safety Responsibilities**
- Take reasonable care for own health and safety and ensure that actions or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons.
- Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, reasonable instructions, and actions taken by Advanta Seeds to allow compliance with legislation.
- Report workplace hazards and incidents to Manager as soon as practical after becoming aware of the hazard or incident.
- Only use machinery, equipment and vehicles for which training has been provided and competency in use has been achieved.
- Follow Safe Work Procedures, Machinery/Equipment Manuals, and the Lockout Tagout Standard always when using machinery and equipment.

**Quality Management System Responsibilities**
- Ensure the processes and documented information relevant to the Quality Management System and their role are understood, established, implemented, maintained, and improved.
- Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System.
- Strive to achieve the company objectives and targets relevant to their role.
- Fix or communicate the problems they find to the appropriate person.
- Contribute to the improvement of the Quality Management System.
