About the Business Unit
The Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) is an independent statutory office accountable to the Victorian Parliament which has been established to protect the rights and enhance the position of people with disabilities in Victoria.
The Advocate Guardian Program is a key OPA program and currently comprises the intake team, the NDIS/Rapid Response team, regional advocate guardian teams and the hospital guardianship team.

About the Role
The Office of the Public Advocate is going through a period of growth and transition and we are looking for someone who will be able to contribute to the processes of change and service improvement for people with disability.
In conjunction with the Director of Advocacy and Adult Protection and Manager, Advocacy and Guardianship, the Team Leader provides professional leadership, supervision, and support to a team of advocate guardians and guardianship support officers.
The Team Leader works collaboratively with the other Team Leaders in the Advocate Guardian Program to ensure that allocation of matters from VCAT is undertaken efficiently and equitably. The focus of this role is to support staff to provide person centred guardianship service, liaise with VCAT, operate effectively across multiple service systems such as aged care, health and NDIS, as well as deal with a range of complex matters including complaints and enquiries from bodies such as the NDIA, Victorian Ombudsman and the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission.
The Hospital Team Leader deal with a range of hospital matters including the whole of state allocation and case conferences with hospital networks.

About you
- Experience in the Victorian human services sector and knowledge of theissues relating to disability, including mental illness and age-related disability as well as the intersection with the relevant legislative responsibilities that OPA operates under, for example the Guardianship and Administration Act 2019.
- Advanced Computer Skills - understands and applies advanced computer skills to complex word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, or database functions.
