Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.
This position is located at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) in Clifton Hill, 15 minutes from Melbourne's city centre. CFMHS is a specialist state-wide agency that works with individuals who have a serious mental health illness and have offended or are at risk of offending.
**About the Role**:
These positions will be based within the Community and Transition Program and Non-Custodial Supervision Order Program. The position will work alongside Senior Mental Health Clinicians within the Community Treatment and Transition program to assist consumers and their families in navigating and maintaining engagement in mental health treatment. This role will assist with case management tasks including referrals and administration tasks and provide general support to consumers and their families under the supervisions of senior staff within the program. This role is intended to provide a pathway into mental health for newly registered health professionals. They will also work alongside Senior Mental Health Clinicians within the Non-Custodial Supervision Order Program who provide supervision, liaison, education and clinical consultation to Area Mental Health Services to assist with the management of clients on Non-Custodial Supervision Orders.
**Duties**:
- Assist in the provision of case management of Custodial Supervision Order and Non-Custodial Supervision Order clients under direction of senior staff.
- Assisting case managed clients and their families with practical issues that may impact upon appointments with the service.
- Assisting The NCSO program with liaison with AMHS
- Assist consumers with provision of information regarding available services, and support in accessing services and supports.
- Assist in referrals and liaison with other service providers including NDIS service providers.
**About You**:
- Approved degree and recent graduate of Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Nursing and be registered with APHRA/ be eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. Nurses are required to be working towards or commitment to commence a qualification in mental health nursing.
- Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery and a passion for a career in the mental health sector.
- An understanding of the range of issues experienced by consumers experiencing mental illness, presenting with a high level of needs and a commitment to assist in meeting the needs of consumers, their families and or carers.
- Clear communication skills both written and verbal and well developed interpersonal skills, including telephone manner.
- Ability to work as a team member and contribute to team decisions as well as the willingness to take on advice and direction.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be tried) Act 1997 and the Sentencing Act 1991.
- Holds a current Victorian Drivers Licence.
**What you need**:
Nursing
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent.
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
Occupational Therapy
- Approved degree in Occupational Therapy recognised for membership of Occupational Therapy Australia - Australian Association of Occupational Therapists.
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
Social Work
- Approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
