The County Court of Victoria plays a key role in ensuring the community has access to a responsive and fair justice system. The County Court is the principal trial court in Victoria, with 80 judges hearing more than 12,000 cases a year across three divisions - Criminal, Commercial and Common Law.
The County Court is prioritising equitable Koori justice outcomes by engaging with community to design interventions that improve the experiences that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have at court.
Reporting to the Director, Strategy, Analytics and Program Delivery, the Koori Strategic Advisor will operate with a high level of autonomy, and will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of Koori initiatives across the County Court. This includes funded proposals under the Aboriginal Justice Agreement, implementation of our Self-Determination Plan, engagement with key stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of timely and strategic policy and program advice.
The Koori Strategic Advisor will also provide advice and support to the Judiciary, Executive and other key stakeholders on emerging issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' interactions with the court system.
This role will be a member of the court's leadership team and Court Service Victoria's Koori Leadership Group
