**The Organisation**

The Burdekin Association is a community-based not-for-profit organisation. The team aim to prevent youth homelessness and family breakdown by providing a range of innovative accommodation, care and support services to young people and families on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Inner West suburbs.

**The Role**

The team are seeking an experienced Team Leader to join their growing Out of Home Care (OOHC) Program.

The Team Leader role is accountable for ensuring homes that are designed for OOHC clients are safe, compliant and client focused. This role works closely with the Manager Out of Home Care, Case Manager and Therapeutic Specialist to ensure the client has a stable and safe home environment where the client can focus on learning, socialising and building their independent living skills.

The Team Leader fulfils this role primarily by ensuring the OOHC homes are operationally compliant, rostered sufficiently, and employ safe working practices that engage and promote a safe and supportive space for the clients, the young people who reside in these OOHC service homes.

Importantly, the position is responsible for ensuring the care provided by Burdekin’s support workers is aligned with Burdekin’s Therapeutic Framework, contemporary best practices in client centered approaches and sensitive to the child or young person’s developmental needs.

**The Duties**
- Ensuring house management is kept to a high, compliant standard
- Develop, monitor and update staffing rosters including managing staff vacancies for the service as required
- Coordinating all activities associated with the residence, ensuring an emotionally positive and physically stable environment for staff and residents
- Provide leadership and motivation to direct youth workers through support and demonstrated understanding of Behaviour Support Plans, Case Plans, and general Burdekin policies and procedures
- Finance & Administration including but not limited to maintaining appropriate records, ensuring house expenditure meets budget, reporting
- Organise and attend fortnightly team meetings
- Oversee and be responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of individual programs for children / young people within the homes you oversee

**Essential criteria**
- Degree in Social Work or other relevant tertiary education
- Minimum 2 years of experience in leading and coaching teams
- Experience working with children and young people in OOHC
- Experience with rostering, budgeting and resource allocation
- Must have your own vehicle, drivers licence and comprehensive insurance
- WWCC, National Police check or willing to obtain
- Willing to participate in our after hours on call roster
