The Finance Officer supports the Accounting Policy and Support Unit in delivering its key functions relating to banking support and reconciliations, cash management and asset accounting. Duties will include:

- coordination tasks for Finance Governance and Risk Unit
- the preparation of internal reports and reconciliations;
- the administration of departmental bank accounts and processing of transactions.

Accountabilities
- Review transaction and/or system generated exception reports and pro-actively seek to resolve or appropriately refer more complex problems to senior officers.
- Support the design and development of financial reports and ensure the timely and accurate completion of reconciliations, annual account working papers, financial reports, briefings and other ad hoc reports and correspondence.
- Communicate effectively, authoritatively and positively with DH clients, staff and internal/external stakeholders, ensure a high level of client service delivery, and pro-actively seek to resolve or appropriately refer more complex problems to relevant sources.
- Undertake a range of administrative and financial functions to support the operation of the work unit as required and participate in the development and implementation of new policies, processes and systems.
- Comply with the Financial Management Act 1994 and other relevant legislation, regulations and government directives, policies and guidelines.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
