With an even spread of responsibilities across internal and external reporting and compliance, you will also contribute to environmental management system improvements, environmental audit requirements and support compliance driven improvement projects. Your strengths in technical reporting will be valued and your ability to identify trends and opportunities for improvement will be sought after by the team. As with all roles in a matrix structure, your ability to build strong relationships, influence others and ultimately really understand our business is where you will have the most impact. **About the role**:
- Regularly review and interpret legislation, government / regulatory standards and agreements and provide informed commentary and communication on new and changes to regulations, including recommendations, improvement opportunities and areas of risk.
- Coordinate and collate environmental and sustainability related reporting data, to ensure effective and timely submission of reporting and compliance obligations.
- Regularly review and provide advice on the engagement of environment service providers to ensure effective service and cost effectiveness
- Support internal environmental related audits as required by the audit schedule. Develop audit protocols and assist in identifying actions and findings and recommendations
- Review the effectiveness of the environment and management aspects of the SHEQMS and in consultation, identify and implement actions to address deficiencies
- Identify environment compliance training needs as per the SHEQMS and provide suitable content for delivery, delivering training as required.
**About you**:
- You have gained your experience through progressive roles in environment and in heavy industry, mining or related industries
- You have a Bachelor's degree or higher in an applied science and/or relevant field
- You are a self-starter, skilled communicator, and natural influencer who can connect easily with people
- You have the experience in maintenance of environmental management systems, complemented by good technical writing skills
- You are well versed in regulatory reporting requirements e.g. NPI, NGERs, etc.
- You are able to assess and control safety and environmental hazards in the workplace
- You have good understanding of environmental legal and other requirements as it applies across all states
- You can easily collate, analyse, manipulate and interpret data, developing reports and identifying meaningful trends
- You are comfortable with training content development and delivery
- You are able to travel interstate and intrastate
