We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced Rates Officer to join an amazing team at one of the Local Councils. This will be a 3 months commencement with immediate start. Reporting to the Coordinator Rates, as a Rates Officer, you will be responsible for the collection and billing of the City’s revenue and the accurate maintenance of the City’s property and ownership database.
Responsibilities includes but not limited to:
- Assisting the debt collection process.
- Maintaining and monitoring all payment arrangements.
- Maintaining and administrating all Pensioner/Senior records and requirements.
- Ensuring the timely processing of interim rates to ensure rates revenue is recognised.
- Assisting with VGO notification of all new property development.
- Assisting the Rating Services Team with general rating functions.
- Provide advice, support and information to internal and external stakeholders.
Essential experience, capabilities and qualifications required:
- Experience in a legislative based data processing role delivering quality services and outcomes in the context of the position requirements.
- Highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise competing demands.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and customers and deal with people in difficult situations.
- Experience in Local Government administration, particularly within a rating context.
- National Police Clearance.
