You will have the opportunity to influence change. The scope of your role will include defining injury prevention strategic initiatives and milestones to improve outcomes nationally across every area of our business. You will use your recent transport knowledge to coach, mentor and support leaders to ensure we are meeting current legislative requirements. Across both areas you will coordinate and deliver audit programs and have responsibility for refining and improving our SHEQMS as well as contribute to projects in the general safety space.
As with all roles in a matrix structure, your ability to build strong relationships, influence others and ultimately really understand our business is where you will have the most impact. This role is based in based in our head office in Darra, Brisbane.
**About the role**:
As part of our centralised team and supporting our business nationally, in this role of Health & Safety Specialist you will:
- Work with leaders and the central Safety and Sustainability function to develop a Health and Safety continuous improvement plan, aligned to long term plans, risks and cultural needs
- Manage Injury Prevention and Transport Compliance training identification and content development with the Training team for the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Act as SME for Injury Prevention and Transport Compliance activities, supporting the development of new procedures/processes as part of the improvement of the SHEQMS
- Manage, analyse and administer services contracts/providers and applicable policies
- Develop and deliver presentations on key Injury Prevention and Transport Compliance initiatives that form a part of the SHEQ strategic plan
- Maintain the event management systems injury database, working with operational teams to ensure system continuity and quality
- Provide expert return to work input into the Group Health and Safety Strategy
- Coordinate, manage and deliver group-wide projects associated with return to work
- Work with Return to Work coordinators to ensure injury management, WorkCover and return to work programs are managed effectively
- Lead investigations (ICAM or similar) into complex Injury Prevention, Injury Management and Transport compliance events that require a level of independence.
- Contribute to the development and undertaking of the internal audit program centrally and across the operations with accountability for Injury Prevention and Transport Compliance.
- Review and maintain the adequacy of functional job profiles across the business.
- Maintain records to demonstrate compliance of the system including training records, records of investigation, records of incidents, health records etc.
- Complete trend analysis on Injury Prevention and Transport Compliance performance across the business and present improvement opportunities
- Compile relevant internal and external data for internal and shareholder reporting
**About you**:
- You have gained your experience through progressive roles in health and safety, with a focus on injury prevention/management and transport
- You have a Bachelor's degree or higher in an applied science and/or relevant field
- You are a skilled communicator, natural influencer and can connect easily with people
- You have the experience and ability to develop and manage integrated safety, health, environment and quality management systems, complemented by good technical writing skills
- You have extensive health, hygiene and risk knowledge and understanding
- You have deep and extensive understanding of safety and health legislative and other requirements as it applies nationally
- You can easily analyse and interpret data, developing reports and identifying meaningful trends
- You are comfortable with training content development and delivery
- You have experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, 45001, 31000
- Your qualifications include Lead Auditor, Lead Investigator, Cert IV training and Assessment
- You are able to travel (pending COVID restrictions) interstate and intrastate
