**About the school**: Highfields State School is a Prep -Yr6 school located in the satellite suburb of Highfields, 14km north of Toowoomba. High standards of behaviour, learning and effort are expected of students by parents and staff alike. With a very collegial and long-standing staff, Highfields State School upholds high academic standards in a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment. Students are provided opportunities to explore and develop areas of interest in sporting, music and cultural pursuits. Positive Behaviour for Learning is an imbedded practice in the school. We have a large, leafy campus, including multiple ovals, adventure playgrounds, and multi-purpose courts; assembly and sports hall, specialist music, Japanese and technology rooms; a spacious library and air-conditioned classrooms to ensure students have optimal conditions for learning.

**About the role**:
A Deputy Principal at our school should possess strong curriculum and pedagogical knowledge, excellent communication skills and demonstrated behaviour management strategies, in order to support staff in their roles.
As the Deputy Principal you will have responsibility for the following:

- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
- Be futures oriented and strategic.
- Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
- Manage resources to achieve goals.
