**Purpose of the Pre-Contracts Function**
- The Transport division has a significant pipeline of new project opportunities to pursue.
- Tenders, Transactions and Augmentations that will be led by the Pre-Contracts function will typically be in excess of $100m in value, involve multiple business units in the Transport Division requiring an integrated response.
The recently established Pre-Contracts function within the Transport Division has been created with the primary objective of leading the pre contract tendering activities, together with the Transport Division business units, to capture these project opportunities.
**Job Purpose**
The role of the Commercial Analyst is to actively participate in pricing and analysing complex bids and driving the maximisation of project margin on active projects by administering all head contract, joint venture and sub-contract commercial and financial matters including payments, securities, disputes and provide guidance to the project team members.
**Responsibilities**
- Work on high value, complex bids, including
- Assisting on finalising financial models
- Take ownership of discrete input streams to the model
- Reviewing and analysing KPIs and scenario testing the future performance
- Reviewing contractual rights and obligations
- Oversee the financial management of a portfolio of Contracts, including
- Preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial reports and variance analysis of operating results
- Coordination of financial and management reporting for both internal and external stakeholders
- Preparation and review of budget, financial and cash flow forecast
- Daily interaction with operational management in providing financial guidance and escalating issues to senior management where required
- Raising Progress Claims and invoices with contractually required attachments
- Liaise with auditors.
- Maintaining contractual records, correspondence, proposed changes to contracts, warranties, delays, extensions of time and other contract management functions as necessary
- Establishing and maintaining an up-to-date framework of reports for all interested parties on the commercial and financial status of the project(s)
- Advise the project team of contractual rights and obligations in a clear, concise and understandable manner
- Manage and undertake a sub-contract procurement process including preparation, negotiation and finalisation of term sheets
**Qualifications**
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Business, Engineering, Law or a related discipline essential.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar Finance, Commercial or Procurement role in a large engineering or infrastructure corporation, with a maintenance or service delivery related contract focus.
- Experienced gained in the rail, automotive, bus or similar transportation sector is highly desirable
- Advanced EXCEL skills.
- ERP systems and information management skills are desirable; experience with SAP highly regarded.
- Outstanding commercial acumen with the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Experience in procurement and/or pricing activities as part of a bid
- Experience in consultation and stakeholder management
