**The Position**
The Anglican School Googong is seeking to appoint Junior School teachers who have an in depth
understanding of an inquiry approach, the ability to cater exceptionally well for students with diverse needs
and have the desire to learn and grow as educators. The successful applicant will be an energetic and highly
skilled Junior School teacher who is suitably qualified and enjoys working in a collaborative team. The
successful applicant will be willing to contribute to the co-curricular and pastoral life of the School and ideally
be a Christian actively involved in their church or committed to supporting and participating in the Christian
life of the School.
As a Junior School classroom teacher, you will be responsible for creating a teaching and learning environment
where authentic learning is at the heart of the classroom and students are encouraged to discover, dream and
grow through inquiry-based learning and collaboration.
Led by the Head of Junior School, you will work collaboratively as part of our teaching team to develop rich
and invigorating learning experiences embedding a knowledge and understanding of Inquiry-based learning
which uses a conceptual model as its basis. Working in this way entails exceptional teaching skills to ensure
that foundation skills are in taught and modelled with high expectations.
You will design and implement teaching programs, giving attention to:
- the empowerment of students as active agents in their own learning
- the inclusion of the student’s world (family and community)
- an holistic approach to children’s growth and development
- the documentation of learning and analysis of student work and data to determine the next steps in
learning
- catering for the needs of all children and be able to differentiate well
It is expected that you will be committed to grow in your knowledge and experience in the use of:
- Building Learning Power (Claxton)
- Inquiry Learning especially an understanding and knowledge of the Educational Project of Reggio
Emilia or similar researched based models such as Project Zero
- Nature pedagogy and its benefits for learning including the understanding of safe risk taking for
children
**Expectations**
As a Junior School teacher, you will be expected to:
- be an outstanding classroom practitioner, passionate about your craft
- demonstrate exemplary and innovative pedagogical skills
- be able to create a positive learning environment in the classroom, implement effective classroom
management skills and promote student responsibility for learning***
- use technology to redefine learning
- have a broad knowledge of curriculum
- have knowledge and experience of effective teaching and learning practice based on an inquiry such
as the Educational Project of Reggio Emilia
- be able to document learning and use this as the basis of analysis of student growth and development
- have a commitment to pastoral care and a knowledge of the social and emotional issues which affect
young people
- participate enthusiastically in the School’s pastoral and co-curricular program, including camps and
occasional out of school hours events
- attend School Chapel services and uphold the School’s Anglican values and ethos
- safeguard and promote the welfare of children
- support the School’s mission and vision
- undertake other duties as required from time-to-time by the Principal
**Knowledge and Training**
Desirable knowledge and training:
- tertiary qualifications in education
- teacher registration with NESA
- current first-aid training
- NSW Working with Children Clearance - mandatory
