What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Executive Officer to Commander Protection Operations.

Specialist Protective Command (SPC) is seeking an experienced Executive Officer. In this role you will work collaboratively as part of a broader Command administration team and provide high level strategic support across the Command. You will work to a Commander and with other members of the Senior Executive to manage affairs to a high professional standard and provide high level executive, strategic governance and coordination support to achieve Command and organisational outcomes.

As an Executive Officer in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

The successful applicant will work with the Commander and Assistant Commissioners Office and Branch Heads to assist them in fulfilling their management responsibilities by:
Providing advice to the Executive to assist with the effective management of the budget;
Managing financial and related human resource administration processes and transactions for the Command;
Liaising and consult with staff across the Command to achieve divisional priorities, including responding effectively to emerging issues;
Demonstrating strong time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks;
Possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including high level writing, editing and presentation skills;
Managing coordination and input requests into the Commanders office from across the Command and other stakeholders to ensure that the SPC contributes accurate and appropriate advice as required;
Building, sustaining and influencing positive working relationships;
Working independently and as part of a broader administrative team to achieve results and ensure the division effectively contributes to department priorities;
Managing and coordinating input into key meetings and follow up on action items; and
Essential requirements

Suitable employees will possess the following essential requirements, experience and skills:
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
A high attention to detail
‘Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with clients and organisational peers
Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
Excellent communication; both verbal and written
