The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

**Team Leader - Social Equity and Safety**

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Community Wellbeing department is seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Leader to lead the newly developed Social Equity and Safety team. This leadership role is vital in building strong, sustainable and resilient communities by developing and fostering partnerships which deliver innovative programs that respond to community safety and the social equity priorities. In this position, you will work at the heart of the community, collaborating with a range of stakeholders to drive initiatives that promote fairness, safety, and wellbeing for all members of the community.

As the Team Leader - Social Equity and Safety, you will:

- Provide leadership and support to staff within the Social Equity and Safety Team, guiding them to develop and implement projects that align with the Council’s strategic objectives and meet community needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies that advance social justice, reduce disparities, and ensure safety in diverse communities across Greater Shepparton.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, community organisations, and advocacy groups.
- Oversee the management of various portfolio areas and key projects within the Social Equity and Safety Team, ensuring that each is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard.
- Support policy and strategy development through analysing data and trends, and reviewing and interpreting relevant legislation and regulations.
- Contribute to advancing organisational and community planning to achieve an intersectional planning approach.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a diverse team, with the ability to inspire and develop staff to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- In-depth knowledge of social equity principles, diversity, and inclusion practices.
- Experience in building and maintaining effective partnerships and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including community groups, service providers, local authorities and local government.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, including developing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives within a community context.
- Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively and solve problems to address the social equity and safety needs of the community.
