**About Physical Disability Council of NSW**:
Physical Disability Council of NSW (PDCN) is the peak representative organisation of, and for, people with physical disability across NSW. PDCN’s purpose is to build empowered, inclusive communities through driving systemic change in all areas of life to ensure equality of opportunity and full participation in NSW society is a reality.

PDCN is a systemic disability advocacy organisation who assist people with a physical disability to live ordinary lives as contributing members of the community by facilitating accessible and inclusive change to government policy and regulations, providing lived advice on numerous advisory panels and committees and providing opportunities for individuals to gain the information, knowledge and skills necessary to manage their own lives.

**About the Role**:
The Policy and Government Relations Manager drives systemic change for people with physical disability across NSW by determining PDCN’s systemic advocacy priorities, and leading the PDCN policy team, including the development of high quality policy outcomes, building key government relationships and participation across campaign activities and community organisation work.

Working closely with the CEO as part of the PDCN Executive team, you will build positive ongoing connections across Government, with key decision-makers and within the NSW and Federal disability advocacy sectors to facilitate the full participation, equality of opportunity and inclusion of people with a physical disability in NSW.

**In the role you will**:

- Provide day-to-day management of the Policy team.
- Determine PDCN’s core advocacy focus areas and proactive strategic project work with the CEO and the PDCN Board
- Oversee the development of policy positions on issues relevant to people with a physical disability
- Identify, prioritise and co-ordinate research of current and emerging systemic issues and priorities
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to exchange current information and best practice principles, with a view to positioning PDCN as expert peak in disability advocacy

- Relevant tertiary qualifications, (such as public policy, social work, or political economy), or significant relevant policy work experience.
- Understanding of the political cycle.
- Experience leading teams to achieve high quality outputs across complex projects.
- Demonstrated high level research skills as well as a track record of high quality, evidence based, policy outputs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to customise communication techniques to suit a variety of audiences and build and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice.
- Demonstrated high level organisational skills and computer literacy
