A unique role to bring together local government GIS data and the community in an engaging way.

A unique role has opened which brings together strong GIS skills with a public facing focus. You would be helping two local governments maintain their GIS data, ensuring access to this for the public via Intramaps, and help field any questions about the data. This role would suit someone who enjoys working with a variety of people, and loves transforming GIS data into something everyone can understand and access.

It is a new type of role and is a 12-month full-time contract, though there may be the possibility to extend depending on its success.

**The Role**

You will use your knowledge of Intramaps (or similar) and SQL to provide support for relevant officers and departments. Some of the tasks you'll carry out include:

- Production of maps, plans and diagrams
- Ensuring asset data is maintained and properly displayed in Intramaps
- Managing data from non-town/city entities (such as Main Roads, Western Power, etc)
- Developing processes to improve upon the maintenance and display of data
- Discussing the work with members of the public and other stakeholders

As noted above, this role would suit someone who loves creating and maintaining data, and sharing it in an engaging way with the wider community

**Your Skills**
- Tertiary qualifications in GIS
- Experience using GIS software (Ideally QGIS and Intramaps)
- Experience maintaining SQL databases (including automated SLIP layer downloads)
- Experience using remote GIS data collection software (i.e., Field Maps)
