**About the opportunity**:
The Year Leader of Learning is directly responsible to, and shares responsibility with, the Leader of Learning - Pastoral Care in leading the Catholic Learning Community of Marian Catholic College by supporting the Principal and Leadership team in promoting the engagement and learning of all students in the year group.

This is a permanent full-time (1FTE) middle leadership position which attracts a 2pt Leader of Learning salary allowance and a 0.2FTE time allowance.

- An understanding of contemporary learning and wellbeing, theory and practice, and an ability to ensure that this is evident throughout the College.
- Build the capacity and capabilities of self and others.
- Challenge existing practice to ensure reflection and continuous improvement.
- Work with colleagues as a leader and team-member.
- Ability to assist the Senior Leadership Team in maintaining an ordered school environment.
- Work collaboratively with the Leader of Learning - Pastoral Care to develop and implement a College wide philosophy and policy on pastoral care and student development (care of entire person), consistent with the Mission of the College.
- Effectively handle matters of pastoral care or discipline referred by other staff members
- Lead the staff and build capacity in homeroom teachers to take responsibility for implementing pastoral care and wellbeing programs and structures that build a culture of continuous improvement.
- Committed to the continual improvement of their teaching practice and take opportunities for personal professional development.
- Work creatively and constructively within a range of 'communities' inside and beyond the school and set high, achievable goals for themselves and their students.

**Qualifications and accreditations**:

- Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with Children Check clearance
- Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
- Minimum of four years professional qualification in education.
- A post graduate qualification or a commitment to undertake further relevant study.
