Adelaide, Australia SA Government -DEPARTMENT FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORT Full time

**Department for Infrastructure and Transport**
**Job reference**: 637392
**Location**: 5000 - ADELAIDE
**Job status**: Ongoing
**Eligibility**: Open to Everyone

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport is one of the largest state government agencies in South Australia.

Our extensive portfolio means we interact with South Australians daily.

Through the infrastructure we build and maintain, transport systems we operate, licensing and regulatory services we administer and the safety initiatives we drive, our work encompasses every part of our State.

We connect South Australians to keep our State moving - now and for the future.

**Public Transport South Australia**
Public Transport South Australia (PTSA) moves millions of South Australians.

We provide well connected and customer-focused public transport services safely, efficiently and sustainably.

We are involved in delivering game-changing projects, from the electrification of our trains, improving services based on feedback and demand, through to the exciting transition to renewable energy, creating a legacy for our State.

**The Opportunity**
We believe we have the most talented and skilled workforce in government. Our people are passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of the South Australian community.

We currently have two vacancies located within the Safety, Security, Risk and Emergency Management Directorate in the People and Corporate Services Division. This Division delivers internal services that enable the Department and its people to fully comply with our obligations, perform their work and deliver on commitments by managing the enterprise’s human resources, finances, core business processes and systems. These roles also have an operational reporting line to the PTSA.

**Security Coordinator (ASO7)** - The role is accountable to the Manager, Security, for leading the team in the provision of high-level, accurate and timely strategic services to the Department. This includes the establishment, coordination, and maintenance of public transport security governance arrangements and strategic documentation (e.g. policies and procedures).

The role will provide and maintain high-level security advice to the PTSA, the Agency Security Executive, and Safety, Security, Risk and Emergency Management directorate management as required.

The Security Coordinator will monitor, and provide expert advice on the security environment for mass passenger transport services and the security requirements of the Department and State. This will inform strategic, operational and tactical decision-making regarding security arrangements for the public transport network. Additionally, the role will coordinate regular and ad hoc intelligence reporting and ongoing operational support to protect the Department’s workers, information, assets and customers on the public transport network.

**Security and Emergency Management Officer (ASO5)** - The role is accountable to the Security Coordinator for the provision of a wide range of timely, cost effective and professional project-oriented services related to public transport security and emergency management planning, preparation, coordination, and implementation. The Security and Emergency Management Officer will provide expert advice and contribution to policies and planning. Additionally, the role will collate data and analyse “security hotspots” across the public transport network, including assisting in the provision of reporting to departmental management.

If you’re interested in a career that really moves, we’d love to hear from you.

**Qualifications**
Relevant qualifications in the security sector (and in particular public transport security) are highly desirable.

**Special Conditions**
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

The roles are classified as a position of trust and requires a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.

In the event of an emergency all staff members of the Safety, Security Risk and Emergency Management Directorate are required to assist in response and recovery activities. This may involve working in the State Emergency Centre, State Command Centre, Executive Crisis Management Team, Incident Management Team or a Forward Command post in the field. This may include significant out of hours work during emergency periods and challenging work conditions.

The positions may include fulfilling an on-call role rotating with other staff, while on call the appointee must be immediately contactable 24 hours a day, fit to work and available to respond to emergency notifications and/or report to State Emergency Centre within 60 minutes of receipt of a call or text.
