Disability Support Worker

We are seeking a compassionate individual to provide exceptional care to a man with a disability in his 50s who leads an independent life while holding a full-time job in professional services. As his sole support worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing his quality of life by assisting with daily tasks and providing social companionship. If you have a genuine passion for helping others and possess the required skills, we would love to hear from you.

**Responsibilities**:

- 9 - 15 hours per week to begin, including social activities on the weekend.
- Weekday shifts are likely to commence in the early afternoon but this is yet to be determined.
- Provide personalised support to a man in his 50's residing alone in Epping.
- Assist with cleaning, cooking, laundry and maintaining a safe and comfortable living environment.
- Assist with some dressing and personal grooming tasks
- Accompany him to social activities and appointments, ensuring his engagement and participation. This will include the occasional hospital visit.
- Handle grocery (and other) shopping and help with organising household supplies as needed.
- Foster a positive and trusting relationship, promoting their well-being and independence.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience as a support worker preferred.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on someone's life.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable car.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage in meaningful conversations.
- Good with technology - ability to use a phone app for shift rostering, timesheets and progress notes.

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $29.00 - $32.00 per hour
