**About the role**

The Advocacy and Engagement Coordinator works closely with staff, clients and the broader community to elevate the voices of people who use drugs and ensure their experiences inform AOD (Alcohol and Other Drug) services and policy. This role is responsible for developing systems and strategies that support meaningful consumer participation, particularly within our Medically Supervised Injecting Room (MSIR) and AOD program.

Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinating NRCH’s Peer Advisory Group and creating safe, supportive engagement pathways for people with lived and living experience
- Developing and maintaining internal systems that enable consumer feedback to be integrated across program areas
- Leading co-design initiatives and advocacy campaigns in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Supporting cultural change initiatives that embed participation, inclusion and rights-based approaches

**About you**

You’ll bring a values aligned, trauma-informed approach and a strong understanding of stigma, discrimination and human rights as they relate to people who use drugs. You are comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively, with experience in community engagement, peer work, co-design or systems advocacy.

You’ll also have:

- Relevant qualifications in community development, public health, social work or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience working with people who use drugs, including people from marginalised backgrounds
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to build trust and support safe, supported participation for people with lived and living experience
