The Metro Tunnel Project (MTP) is a transformational public transport project that will bring more trains to your suburb and reduce travel times by running the busy Cranbourne, Pakenham, and Sunbury lines through a new tunnel. By untangling the City Loop, more trains can run more often across Melbourne.

We’ve finished digging twin 9km tunnels, and construction is underway on 5 new stations and testing of the new High-Capacity Signalling system that will enable turn-up-and-go services.

Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced
**Cost Controller **to join the MTP Team.

**The Role**

As a Cost Controller you will be supporting the cost control function to minimize deviation from budget and maximise business outcomes by effectively controlling and monitoring project costs through planning, developing, controlling, and forecasting the project’s budget, providing technical and strategic advice, analytical oversight, support, and guidance to project management, and working closely across multiple functions and stakeholders.

This is a
**fulltime, permanent role **based in Melbourne’s CBD.

**Responsibilities**
- Support with various aspects of project cost control including cost planning, cost reporting, review of monthly expenditure, cost forecasting, and change management in accordance with MTM Project Management Framework.
- Providing adequate information flow to project management regarding budgets, expenditure, forecasts, and progress to enable informed decision making incl reporting of deviations, underruns, and overruns to project management.
- Assist in supporting the maintenance of the project cost controls platform to ensure data integrity and accurate reporting is provided in a timely manner.
- Preparing various aspects of project cost control including allocating budgets, reporting cost deviations, cash flow reporting,
- Manage, establish, and maintain project breakdowns, job codes and documentation to facilitate management, monitor to report on costs regarding the project
- Prepare various reports on allocation of budgets, reports on deviation and cash flow
- Analysis of data to establish the variances in initial estimates and final project costs, identify trends, risks, and mitigation

**About You**
- Tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, finance/business or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Cost Control.
- Knowledge of current cost control and project management techniques.
- Good level of experience in using cost control systems and tools.
- High level of experience in using Word, Excel & Outlook.
- Experience in controlling costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff (verbal and written).
