The Rural Doctors Workforce Agency (RDWA) is a not-for-profit NGO funded by the South Australian Government and the Australian Government Department of Health. It delivers a comprehensive range of workforce support and services to medical, allied health and nursing professionals in rural South Australia. Recently celebrating its 25th anniversary, the organisation has built an enviable reputation by increasing access to healthcare for rural communities.

The newly configured and elevated role of Manager Locum Services will lead and drive the achievement of RDWA’s strategic objectives by providing high quality service delivery of the Rural GP Locum Service and ensuring the support of the GP workforce to retain priority doctor services in rural SA towns. Key responsibilities of this pivotal role include:

- delivering reliable high quality GP/RG replacement services in accordance with the organisation’s targets;
- liaising with and supporting eligible locum service applicants to access the program;
- leading, developing and managing employees in an inclusive, respectful and safe manner;
- identifying opportunities to improve locum activities and achieve efficiencies;
- devising and monitoring key performance indicators and reporting on the performance of the service;
- developing service plans which meet organisational and funder obligations while identifying and mitigating risks;
- identifying and drafting key marketing content to positively promote the organisation’s work.

Applications are encouraged from appropriately experienced service management professionals displaying a good understanding of rural health workforce policy, incentive, support and legislated programs. The successful applicant will be collaborative, innovative, and highly ethical, display exceptional skills in the leadership and development of employees and demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and change management abilities. A good financial understanding will also be important in order to achieve value for money.
