**About the role**:
Reporting to the Operations Excellent Manager - Logistics, the Warehouse Optimisation Specialist is a full-time position responsible for delivering leading practice and continuous improvement across warehousing and transport.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Partner with warehouse operations, Logistics teams and business partners to turn improvement ideas into reality, with a view towards leading the roll-out of group-wide leading practice solutions that meet strategic objectives, deliver improved safety, service or cost outcomes or help Business Units meet objectives and goals.
- Identify, prioritise, evaluate, design, deliver, measure and monitor improvement opportunities.
- Explore and test innovative solutions then promote and gain approval for new, cost-effective solutions to solve operational issues within the building materials industry.
- Assess existing ways of working and current constraints/issues, understand root causes, then conduct feasibility assessments of alternate solutions and validate costs and potential benefits and make fact-based recommendations for leading practice solutions.
- Lead business process mapping activity to understand the ‘as is' and ‘to be' gap for warehouse business changes.
- Obtain buy-in from operations on solutions to ensure initiatives are understood, operations ideas and feedback are considered and that collaboration between the Warehouse team and BU operations team is maximised.
- Consult end users in the design and delivery of new solutions and ensure adequate process and training materials are created and delivered.
- Plan and coordinate the delivery of optimisation solutions and ensure initiatives, activities and road-maps are aligned with business, change and communication principles and risks and issues are effectively managed.
- Communicate and report on the progress and performance of optimisation initiatives implemented to key stakeholders.
- Prepare, analyse and interpret data, and model complex, alternative solutions, in the pursuit of value creation and improvement on safety, service and cost for CSR.
- Support strategic projects managed by the Transformation Group or Network Planning and Optimisation.
- Support the development of accurate costs to serve in warehouse operations and maintain warehouse KPI benchmarks.
- Support the coaching and development of others to build continuous improvement awareness and capabilities.
- Drive a no harm safety culture and pro-actively address safety in all solutions, including driving compliance with all regulatory or policy requirements for Workers Compensation, OH&S and COR.
- Build internal relationships with stakeholders to identify opportunities, address issues and implement solutions.

**About You**:

- Degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management and/or qualifications lean principles such as Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, Toyota Production System, etc.
- 3+ years experience in a Logistics improvement role
- Previous experience with various types of warehouse/yard operations, ideally within the building materials industry or bulky good operation
- Advanced Excel skills (including SQL ideally) and good competency in general business software inclusive of Word, Powerpoint and Outlook
- Demonstrated competency in capturing, validating and manipulating data to model alternate solutions as well as development of effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems and robust business cases
- Strong ability to build relationships internally and externally to identify and support cross functional opportunities/ delivery of CSR strategies
- Practical solution provider with a high level of cost consciousness and customer focus
- Proven ability to operate effectively in complex and ambiguous environments
