**Role Description/Criteria**
**OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE**
The House Coordinator is an integral and significant member of the pastoral care structure and processes of the College. The position is one of leadership of both staff and students in a Catholic school, and so the House Coordinator is called to exemplify Jesus' style of the leader as servant of the community.
The House Coordinator’s role, with the assistance of the other staff in their House, is to develop within the students a sense of belonging, loyalty and spirit to the House and College, and to care for student needs at the College. ‘At the very heart of each Catholic school is a desire for the full flourishing of each student, across religious, physical, cognitive, emotional and social domains’ (Horizons of Hope, 2016, p.5).
Effective pastoral leadership explicitly connects student wellbeing with learning, positive student outcomes and success. At Padua College, the House Coordinator guides and supports staff to ensure that every student’s experience is personal, enabling and formative; ensuring every student’s opportunities for success are maximised. Each House Coordinator is responsible for a House and works closely with the homeroom teachers to provide for the pastoral needs of the students within their group.
The House Coordinator is a member of the Campus House Coordinator team and reports to the Deputy/Vice Principal - Head of Campus under the direction of the Vice Principal - Students.
**MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**
The House Coordinator’s major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
i. Guiding and supporting staff and students in their House to create a learning environment and culture that promotes student wellbeing, learning, connectedness, resilience and spiritual development.
ii. Providing leadership within the House and College Community.
iii. Effectively managing student welfare, wellbeing, behaviour management procedures and ensuring the implementation of the eXcel program in the House.
iv. Supporting and assisting the Deputy/Vice Principal - Head of Campus and the Assistant Head of Campus - Student Wellbeing and Growth with the implementation of the Campus’s Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct, and any other policies and procedures relating to child safety.
v. Performing duties and implementing decisions as requested by the Principal or the College Improvement Team.
**Application Procedures**
Padua College is a Child Safe School and promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.
