**Role Description/Criteria**

**OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE**

The Catholic Identity Leader works with the Vice Principal - Mission, Identity and Community to develop and implement the strategic direction of the Catholic Identity and Religious Education spheres of the College. The Catholic Identity Leader is responsible for the leadership of Catholic Identity and Religious Education curriculum on the Rosebud or Tyabb Campuses, and collaborates with the Vice Principal - Mission, Identity and Community to promote and connect high-quality teaching to student engagement, successful learning, and positive student outcomes on the campus.

The Catholic Identity Leader works in collaboration with the Vice Principal - Mission, Identity and Community, the Vice Principal - Learning and Teaching, Learning and Pedagogy Leader, Instructional Coaches, the Director of Catholic Identity and Catholic Identity Leaders on other campuses to lead curriculum and program development and oversee course provision, to ensure the efficient management and administration of the Religious Education Learning Area across the Campus and the College.

The Catholic Identity Leader, with the Vice Principal - Mission, Identity and Community, develops, implements and leads whole school professional learning in relation to Catholic Identity and in the area of Religious Education that builds knowledge, understanding and capacity of staff to obtain their Accreditation to Teach Religious Education or Lead in a Catholic School, or CECV Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School.

The Catholic Identity Leader works closely with the Pastoral Associate, Religious and Liturgical Music Coordinator, Faith Team Assistant, and all staff on the Rosebud/Tyabb campuses, and is a member of the Campus Leadership Team, Faith Team Executive, and Religious Education (RE) Learning Area. The Catholic Identity Leader will support the mission and vision of the school and ensure the college values are reflected in the way they work.

The Catholic Identity Leader is responsible to the Principal and reports directly to the Vice Principal - Mission, Identity and Community.

**MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**

The responsibilities of the Catholic Identity Leader include but are not limited to:
i. promoting Catholic Identity on the Campus;
ii. collaborating with the Director of Innovation, Instructional Coaches, Learning and Pedagogy Leaders, the Director of Catholic Identity, the other Catholic Identity Leaders, and the staff within their team to ensure the development and implementation of a rigorous Religious Education Learning Area program including individual courses, and their reflection of the principles of Padua College’s Learning and Teaching Framework;
iii. in collaboration with the Vice Principal - Staff, Strategy and Development, implementing and leading whole school staff professional learning in relation to the RE Learning Area, informed by research and evidence, to improve learning outcomes;
iv. facilitating the prayer, liturgical and social justice programs on the campus;
v. working to develop House charisms, House liturgies and the House Social Justice initiatives;
vi. developing and implementing student reflection programs;
vii. assisting in the development of the wider College Catholic Identity program and involvement in the wider Catholic Education system and community as representatives of the College; and

viii. performing other duties and implementing decisions as requested by the Principal or the College Improvement Team.
