**About the role**

Use your skills in Public Relations and Social Media to make a difference in

the lives of Queenslanders. Working in a close-knit and collaborative team, you will be responsible for providing leadership to Cancer Council’s public relations and social media portfolio to achieve organisational goals and deliver on strategic objectives.

**This role is a Permanent, Full-time role. 37.5 hours per week.**

**About you**

To be successful in this role you must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask/work across numerous activities at any given time. You will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, and demonstrate the ability to engage and manage internal and external stakeholders.

You will be a collaborative leader to a small team, and be able to coach and guide them to deliver on objectives and realise opportunities.

You will have the ability to deliver cohesive, timely and engaging content for a range of channels and audiences.

You will be a strategic, creative forward thinker who keeps abreast of what is happening in media and abroad. You will have a thorough knowledge of media relations best practice.

**Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills**

**Essential Skills**:

- A minimum of five years of experience in a media, PR or journalism environment and two years in the use of social media platforms in a professional environment
- Tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications or PR.
- Well-developed skills and experience managing media events.
- Well-developed public speaking and presentation skills. Computer literacy with MS Office Suite and Adobe Suite of products.
- Well-developed communication skills, both written and spoken, including the ability to write accurate and attention-grabbing media releases and social media content.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and motivate teams and individuals.
- Demonstrated experience in media and PR campaign strategy development and implementation.

**Desirable Skills**:

- Highly developed time management skills in order to meet strict deadlines.
- Proven ability to use initiative to highlight and promote the aims of Cancer Council Queensland.
- Extensive understanding of and exposure to issues relating to public affairs.
- Extensive and proven experience in independent research and working in or with the media.
- Experience with photography is desirable but not essential.
