The Anti-Dumping Commission (ADC) is the Federal Government agency responsible for addressing and investigating unfair trade practices, particularly the dumping and subsidisation of imported goods that can affect Australian industries. The ADC sits within the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, assisting the Australian Government build a better future for all Australians through enabling a productive, resilient and sustainable economy, enriched by science and technology.
As an independent regulator, the ADC ensures a level playing field for Australian industry in an increasingly challenging time for global trade. A reputation for excellence and independence has been built by the Commissioner, the executive and the 80 plus dedicated team members to ensure that the rules-based global trade systems function properly for Australian producers.
Reporting to the Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner, Strategy and Operations is part of the senior executive team, providing strategic leadership to the Commission’s staff, leading key stakeholder engagement, and maintaining a culture of high performance. The Deputy Commissioner is responsible for providing enabling services to drive the strategic direction of the Commission, support the Investigations Branch and provides support with stakeholder engagement, market analysis and intelligence, data, governance, performance reporting, operational policy, compliance, risk, people and capability.
You will build strategic relationships with key industry and government stakeholders, including domestic users of the anti-dumping system and international trade remedies bodies, in compliance with World Trade Organisation rules. Drawing upon high quality market analysis and data systems to promote informed and timely decision-making, to develop and drive the Commission’s strategic directions and deliver on corporate reporting. You will drive practice and the operational policy developments to improve the administration of the anti-dumping system.
To be considered for this role, you will be a proven, contemporary executive with highly developed strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as demonstrated capacity to learn technical detail. You will have outstanding people leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse staff and build and maintain a positive workplace culture across teams. Refining a performance-based culture, embracing new ways of working whilst maintaining ADC’s globally recognised reputation will be a key measure of success in the role. Previous exposure to international trade will provide a distinct advantage.
