Within the Social Impact arm of the YMCA, Y-Care, the Training and Enterprise team exist to create pathways to employment and contribute to the financial sustainability of our charitable programs. YMCA’s Training and Enterprise team also lead the facilitation of Government funded programs such as Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) initiatives.

We are looking for **six (6)** trainees on a** full time, fixed term basis** to complete a **Land Care Assistant Traineeship** The Enterprise and Training team office is **located in Parkinson **and participants require the capability to work at community centres and education facilities from **Springfield Lakes to Cannon Hill.**

Trainees will completed an accredited training program and be provided with hands on tasks that align with the learning.

**ABOUT THE ROLES**

The role of **Land Care Assistant** is focused on providing conservation and land care services to the YMCA and key community stakeholders of the YMCA. This includes for nuturing and maintaining landscapes within the community and understanding the local flora and fauna, and methods to conserve and protect the local environment. Additional tasks and training will include:

- Seed Identification and Cultivation
- Basic Nursery Work
- Waste Management Innovations
- Basic Garden Planning and Design
- Applicable Tool & Equipment maintenance.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Must be eligible to work in Australia
- Willingness to learn about conservation, ecosystem management and their natural environment around them.
- A passion for the outdoors and aspirations for a career in conservation and or land care.
- The applicant must hold, or be eligible to hold, a Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
- Own transport and/or access to reliable transport as the role may require earlier starts as the weather warms
