MacGeo is looking to appoint a **Laboratory Quality Manager **on a full time, permanent basis. As a Quality Manager you will be responsible for the ongoing management and implementation of Quality Assurance across all MacGeo Laboratories.
Macquarie Geotechnical is a Geotechnical Consulting / Drilling & Construction Materials Testing company providing dynamic, multidisciplinary services to a wide range of sectors, with laboratories based in NSW, QLD, and VIC.
**Salary range $120,000 to $140,000 dependent on experience.**
**Location is flexible.**
**Role Purpose**:
- Maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) and technical procedures in accordance with in-house (QMS) compliant to IEC/ISO 17025.
- Creating and embedding a culture focused on the delivery of high-quality results and continuous improvement.
**Duties and responsibilities but not limited to**:
- Ensure business compliance with QMS, IEC/ISO 17025, and associated documentation.
- Ensure the integrity of the management systems are maintained when changes to the management system are planned and implemented.
- Embedding a culture focused on the delivery of high-quality results, continuous improvement, work ethic and highest standards.
- Supporting business to ensure it develops, maintains, and exceeds relevant NATA accreditation.
- Schedule and conduct internal audits and inspections to assess compliance with quality standards, identify non-conformities, and develop appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage the validation and verification of laboratory methods, ensuring they meet required standards and guidelines.
- Assist with external audits by NATA and other bodies and customers as required.
- Ensure that corrective actions raised are investigated and documented quickly, effectively, and long terms solutions found.
- Engage with all teams in particular the quality, operational and technical teams to deliver expertise in the use of the quality systems in the day to day running of the laboratories.
- Identify key operational risks and work in collaboration with other departments to mitigate them.
- Ensure that all work in the laboratory is performed in accordance with the methods and Standard Operating Procedures as per MacGeo QMS.
- Work with other departments and ensure that areas outside of the lab such as logistics have good management of quality standards in place when collecting, handling, and transporting samples.
- Engage and train staff in the purpose and use of the quality system.
- Assist and own the development of key initiatives within the business that supports profitable revenue growth for MacGeo.
- In close collaboration with the site teams and the commercial team, assist with the provision of a high level of internal and external customer care.
**Requirements**:
- Diploma in Laboratory techniques or similar.
- Working knowledge of IEC/ISO 17025, ISO 9001, other ISO standards and Quality Management Systems is essential.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within the CMT Industry.
- Understand health and safety in the laboratory environment, methodical accurate, and have good attention to detail.
- Able to communicate effectively and explain scientific information to staff and clients at all levels.
- Competence in IT, including LIMS, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Understanding of quality KPI’s, measures and ability to effect change to improve.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Auditing experience.
