**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Superintendent Environment Management for Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO), you will be part of an environment team responsible for supporting WAIO’s operational teams to deliver strong environmental performance through coaching, monitoring, verification, and implementation of Asset-wide systems, processes and plans.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual for an Environment trainee role to work with a team of Environment professionals to learn the skills and systems to be an Environmental Specialist at our Iron Ore Operations. As a member of the BHP Environment team, you play an important and meaningful role in the assurance of compliance to our obligations and in building WAIO’s capability to continuously improve Environmental performance and ensure sustainable operations.

Based in our Perth Office, regular travel to the Pilbara region of Western Australia will be required to enable effective relationships with the operations you will be collaborating with. Flexible work options are supported and encouraged. The trainee program would provide you with rewarding challenges and a varied scope. Supporting, coaching, and mentoring will be provided as you work towards your Certificate IV in Environmental Management.

In this role you will:

- Complete a Certificate IV Environmental Management over the course of your traineeship
- Assist with the identification, design, and continuous improvement of Asset-level environmental standards, systems and procedures required to manage risks and opportunities, controls, legal obligations and Our Requirements
- Learn about maintaining and improving the Environment Management System (EMS) including relevant aspects of ISO re-certification
- Be a part of the development, coordination and maintenance of monitoring programs, management plans, risk assessments and operational procedures
- Be a part of coordination and execution of internal and external audits, including Field Leadership activities, external assurance and Internal Audit and Advisory (IAA) Environment audits
- Visits to our site Operations to see how site-based Environment Specialists and HSE Superintendents use technical capabilities and influencing positive change in environmental performance
- Be a part of coordination and execution of relevant internal and external environmental reporting

- Alibility to work well as part of a team and have the ability to work autonomously
- You will be able to complete a Certificate IV Environment Management, delivered through an on-line learning system
