About the Role
The Safe, Healthy and Empowered Relationships (SHER) pilot program is a 16-week men’s domestic and family violence intervention program based in Logan QLD. It is offered to men from Afghan-Dari speaking communities and is voluntarily participated by men who are wanting to take accountability for their behaviour. SHER supports men through group education approaches and provides brief case management while they are engaged in the program. The program is centred around the safety and wellbeing of victim-survivors and implements best practice risk and safety planning approaches for victim-survivors, SHER staff and men.
The Men's Group Facilitator role reports to the Men’s Group Team Leader. This role is responsible for facilitating group work intervention sessions in Dari language with men who are committed to addressing their use of domestic and family violence. Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments, managing risk, and facilitating group sessions using SHER curriculum modelled from the Duluth Model. All case notes, incident reports and other program administration work will be completed in English.
This is a part-time 12 months contract, working 20 hours per week.

Essential Criteria
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the Domestic, Family or Sexual Violence sector or community services field; or qualification in human services, community work, social work, psychology or related field
- Must be fluent in English and Dari language. Group sessions will be facilitated in Dari language.
- Observed or willing to observe a minimum of 32 hours perpetrator intervention group work within first 6 months of employment
- Completed or committed to completing specialist group perpetrator intervention training of at least 25 hours duration
- Demonstrated ability to work with both government and non-government agencies in a case coordination model. Knowledge of or ability to rapidly acquire technical understanding of relevant legislation and regulations specifically; The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 including Section 5a Information Sharing, the Child Protection Act 1999 and an understanding of the Family Law Act 1975.
- Demonstrated knowledge of culturally sensitive practice when working with people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background
- A working knowledge of the Duluth Curriculum and the dynamics of domestic violence, particularly relating to the strategies and behaviour of domestic violence perpetrators, and the behaviour change process.

**Other role requirements**:

- Work a minimum of 1 afternoon shift per week from 12:00pm to 8:30pm to co-facilitate group sessions.
- Work outside of normal business hours where required to respond to client and group needs
