**The Company**

Our client, The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), is the representative body of the general insurance industry in Australia. Their members represent approximately 95 per cent of total premium income written by private sector general insurers. Insurance Council members, both insurers and reinsurers, are a significant part of the financial services system.

The ICA work with members, consumer groups and all levels of government to support consumers and communities when they need it most. They believe an insurable Australia is a resilient Australia - and

**The Role**

Climate change is worsening extreme weather events with implications for the affordability and availability of insurance in Australia. The ICA is tackling the climate challenge by enabling the general insurance industry to transition to net zero, advocating for improved resilience in the built environment and assisting communities to build back better in the wake of disasters.

This role will support the climate action work of the ICA, focusing on work related to net zero and the implications of worsening extreme weather.

- Stay up to date with technical and policy developments relevant to net zero, climate finance and climate science both globally and domestically.
- Undertake reviews of relevant literature, summarizing key themes and concepts, including identifying key risks and translating this research into policy briefs, providing support on media releases and assisting with the drafting of speeches. Contribute to the development and execution of the ICA climate action strategy and assist with engagement and support of ICA members and other relevant stakeholders, including managing committee meetings and member engagement.
- Assist with the coordination of virtual and physical events for key stakeholders **.**

Along with your excellent communication skills, this gives you confidence in writing for a range of purposes and audiences, from preparing briefing notes to developing slides. You enjoy working across teams and understand the importance of collaboration. You prefer to work in purpose driven environments where there is a keen sense of enterprise thinking across the organization. Making an impact in the work that you do is valuable to you.

You are adaptable and flexible, and able to comfortably pivot from tasks to projects when needed, to keep things moving forward. You are determined, and with previous experience in working in professional environments with complex issues, you are an adept learner and find that you can respond and operate quickly.

Ideally you will possess:

- Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, science, government relations, environmental studies, or law.
- Practical experience in policy analysis, stakeholder engagement and campaigning
- Experience in climate policy and climate campaigning will be considered favorably.

**The Rewards and Culture**
