**About the Business Unit**:
This is an exciting opportunity to deliver a major initiative for victims of crime. The FAS is a landmark reform that has replaced the judicially based Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal with an administrative scheme that prioritises the needs of victims and supports their recovery from violent crime. The FAS represents a major leap forward in government's response to victims of crime. Established under the _Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022_, the FAS provides financial assistance through a simple and easy to navigate process that is fair, sensitive, and responsive to victims' needs. The FAS aims to acknowledge harm done and be trauma informed, inclusive and culturally safe.

**About the Role**:
The Principal Policy Officer will lead the development and delivery of the independent review of the FAS.

Some of your duties will include:

- Leading the preparation for and oversee delivery of the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) independent review
- Leading engagement with the independent reviewer, ensuring the review delivers to its Terms of Reference and the reviewer's contractual requirements
- Providing high-quality advice to FAS assessment staff, to support sound decisions that are consisistent with legislation, regulations, and policies.

**About You**:

- Demonstrated experience in developing complex policy advice, conducting research, and leading significant projects
- Demonstrated experience in providing complex advice on administrative law, statutory decision-making and interpretation, and human rights
- Experience in leading engagement with diverse stakeholders.
- Qualifications/Requirements:_
- A tertiary qualification in law, policy development or another relevant field is highly desirable.
